Portal II

Portal 2 is the follow on to the extremely successful first person original. The game retains all of the game play elements from Portal 1 and adds lots of new features such as bridges made from light beams, and splashing paint gel which accelerate your speed or make you jump higher.

In the single player campaign, you play as Chell. As with the original Portal, your character can take a small amount of damage before they die, thankfully like the original you don't take fall damage still. The aim of the story mode is to explorer the Aperture Science Lab, which is filled of complex puzzles that have a clear exit point, but there are also other parts of the game which are not so clear leaving the objects less clear.

The tutorial at the start of the game explains all of the game play elements very well and gets you well prepared for the on coming puzzles; and whenever there is a new element

Review of Portal II

The Game

  • Extensive single player: Featuring next generation gameplay and a wildly-engrossing story.

  • Complete two-person co-op: Multiplayer game featuring its own dedicated story, characters, and gameplay.

  • Advanced physics: Allows for the creation of a whole new range of interesting challenges, producing a much larger but not harder game.

  • Original music.

  • Massive sequel: The original Portal was named 2007's Game of the Year by over 30 publications worldwide.

  • Editing Tools: Portal 2 editing tools will be included.

Portal II follows a similar path as the first game, solve puzzles, don't fall in water and test! However it shows an evolution of the game designers sa the scope of portal II is a lot larger and more story based than the first game.

If you enjoyed the first one then I would whole heartily reccomend you play this one as well.

The only fault I can point out to this game is that it just keeps going and going!

The game retains Portal 's gameplay elements, and adds new features, including tractor beams, laser redirection, bridges made of light, and paint-like 'gels' accelerating the player's speed, allowing the player-character to jump higher or place portals on any surface. These gels were created by the team from the Independent Games Festival-winning DigiPen student project Tag: The Power of Paint.

In the single-player campaign, the player controls protagonist Chell, awoken from suspended animationafter many years, who must navigate the now-dilapidated Aperture Science Enrichment Center during its reconstruction by the reactivated GLaDOS, a powerful supercomputer. The storyline introduces new characters, including Wheatley (Stephen Merchant) and Cave Johnson (J. K. Simmons). Ellen McLain reprised the role of GLaDOS. Jonathan Coulton and The National each produced a song for the game. Portal 2 also includes a two-player cooperative mode, in which the robotic player-characters Atlas and P-Body are each given a portal gun and are required to work together to solve puzzles. Valve provided post-release support for the game, including additional downloadable content and a simplified map editor to allow players to create and share test chambers with others.
